[MEET THE TEAM] To complete the team, let’s meet Samson Prévost, nickname “Mute”, simulation engineer at AOTech. Samson has always been passionate about motorsports and amazed about the high performance of motor racing. After his studies at the ESTACA, Samson joined AOTech as an intern before becoming a full-time sim engineer. Samson mainly works on models, simulation, softwares evolution and simulator exploitation. His #role? Studying the technical evolution of the simulator as the main goal is to get closer to reality; to compare real track actions and virtuality so the drivers can feel no difference between reality and simulation. Samson makes the best out of the measuring tools to transcribe as best as possible on-track conditions. This implies playing with car behavior, testing brake efficiency, etc. There’s a duality in Samson’s work : a physical part and a computing/Algorithmic part. Computing appears to be the most challenging side of his job. Dealing with special cases, computing bugs, etc. This can change a 10mn task into a whole week's work! 🤯 To be able to tackle these challenges, you need a whole set of technical knowledge. From physics to 3D visualization ability and computing science, you need to have a great understanding of engineering and computing in general. A piece of advice for future sim engineer? Do not underestimate theory and computing science. It is important to fully understand racing cars way of working. And most importantly, stay curious and develop as many skills as you can!
